Motorcyclist Killed in Dump Truck Accident on I-580 in Castro Valley, CA

Castro Valley, CA -- June 29, 2022, one person was killed after an accident where a motorcycle and a truck collided on I-580.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 7:22 a.m. along I-580. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear at this time. It appears a motorcycle and a semi-truck crashed along eastbound lanes of the interstate. As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries. Investigations are ongoing.

There isn't much information about what happened here, and I can only hope steps are being taken to investigate things properly. Quite frankly, I find too often that people are quick to assume a motorcyclist was being reckless just because they're a motorcyclist. Just because some riders out there are reckless doesn't mean they all are. In fact, I've seen first hand just how devastating the drivers of larger vehicles can be due to their inattention. As such, it's important that experienced and unbiased investigators look into these events so the victim's loved ones at least know they're getting the full story. Are those steps being taken?
