Commentary on Leonel Nunez Lainez Car Accident in Decatur

To be frank, it wouldn't be surprising if alcohol and/or speed caused this wreck, considering how common those factors are. It's especially important to consider if the victim was coming from a local bar, since that establishment could be liable for his injuries if the illegally over-served him (this is called dram shop law). With that said, however, jumping to conclusions would be incredibly irresponsible.

I can't count how many times I looked into police reports blaming someone for all kinds of things that turned out to be completely untrue once more experienced investigators looked into things. Even uncommon possible factors, such as mechanical issues or road hazards, warrant consideration. Letting the evidence speak for itself is crucial for getting people the help they deserve, and I can't help wondering if authorities are really treating this man's accident with as much prudence as it warrants.
