Rasean Jamerson Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Central Expy in Richardson, TX

UPDATE (August 24, 2022): Sources have identified the victim of this accident as 24-year-old Rasean Jamerson.

Richardson, TX — June 16, 2022, a motorcyclist crashed and was fatally injured on South Central Expressway in Richardson.

According to reports the incident happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on the 900 block of South Central Expressway near Spring Valley Road. Preliminary investigation suggests the rider entered US-75 at a ramp and then veered through all the lanes to enter the HOV lane at an undesignated point. He then braked hard and swerved back out of the HOV, which caused his bike to overturn and eject him.

Officers dispatched to the area found the unresponsive rider lying in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.

Folks are often quick to blame motorcyclists for accidents whether or not there's any proof or even sufficient detail in reports to say what really happened. Investigators certainly paint a picture of recklessness here, but I can't help but wonder if that was influenced at all by the victim's chosen vehicle..

Motorcyclists often get short-changed by the public after they crash. Unfair biases against them often mean they're blamed for wrecks that weren't really their fault. A crash caused by rider carelessness or impairment might look the same as one caused by vehicle failure or poor road conditions, but clearly the rider shouldn't be blamed in all of those scenarios.

That's why it's best not to jump to any conclusions as the picture comes into focus. In the meantime the victim deserves the benefit of the doubt and his loved ones deserve any answers they can get.
