Driver Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident on Walnut Glen Drive in Harris County, TX

Harris County, TX -- June 8, 2022, one person was injured due to an accident where a vehicle crashed along Walnut Glen Drive.

According to initial reports, the crash took place at around 12:34 a.m. along Walnut Glen Drive off Willowmist Drive.

Officials said that a 44-year-old man was on a motorcycle traveling eastbound along Walnut Glen. Somehow, the motorcycle lost control and crashed.

The motorcyclist sustained incapacitating injuries due to the crash. Authorities indicated that they were looking into alcohol and speed as possible factors. No factors can be confirmed at this time.

It's possible police have specific reasons to suspect speed and alcohol as factors here. They are certainly important to consider, especially given the possibility there's a local bar responsible for over-serving the rider. But it's also important to keep in mind that folks tend to jump to conclusions when it comes to motorcyclist.

Motorcyclists are often seen as daredevils and reckless drivers, and unfortunately authorities can fall to these same biases. That's one of the reasons I'm so adamant about independent investigations. Not only could there be complex factors surrounding what happened here, but there could be factors that require experience and tools authorities don't have access to. If nothing else, getting the facts is a crucial step toward getting people the help they need, and I don't see a particular reason why this crash would be an exceptions to that.
