Commentary on 18-wheeler Rollover Accident on FM 1879 in Dallam County

It would not surprise me in the least if a crash like this involved unsafe speeds, as that's almost always how this sort of thing happens. But with commercial trucks, there can be extenuating circumstances authorities aren't likely to consider on their own.

A cargo shift, for example, can pull a trailer off-road suddenly. Defective or worn tires can blow out. Catastrophic mechanical failures can happen if a driver's employer refuses to keep up with maintenance. Drivers can even be forced to work dangerously long hours by bosses with unreasonable expectations. Even if those possibilities are unlikely, shouldn't every possible step be taken to ensure those involved are getting the full story? Doing so may require far more thorough independent investigations from professionals who are particularly experienced with the challenges surrounding commercial truck wrecks.
