Police say speed is a possible factor, but the crash is still under investigation.

Commentary on Tyren Malik, Kederick Renard Brooks Car Accident in El Paso

It wouldn't be surprising if this crash was speed related, given how common that is. Looking into other possibilities, such as alcohol, will also be crucial going forward. That's especially true with things like dram shop law, since a bar could be liable for these tragic events if they illegally over-served the driver. But as common as those factors are, I see too often how people simply ignore other possibilities just because they seem unlikely. That's why these situations are often better off in the hands of experienced, independent professionals.

Mechanical defects, road hazards, brake failure, medical conditions, tire blowouts, faulty signals or missing signage, other drivers that left the scene--these are all possibilities that can certainly cause fatal wrecks, even if they aren't all that common. Even police can miss something important if they don't have the right experience or tools, and sometimes the victims aren't able to tell their story before everything hits the news desk.

Whatever happened here and whoever was involved, there are families out there in need of answers. Taking reports like these at face value without proper investigations isn't likely to get them those answers. That's why taking steps to get the details in the right hands as soon as possible is a crucial step for anyone involved in a tragic accident like this.
