Commentary on Tractor-trailer Accident on US 67 in Venus

With a crash like this, things may seem pretty open-and-shut. How else does a truck rear-end someone at a light without making a mistake? Well, unlikely as it is, there can be things like mechanical defects or medical emergencies to consider. But beyond that, there's also the possibility that a driver's mistake was the result of other more serious problems.

For example, I was looking into a situation a while back where a truck driver was texting and driving, leading to a crash. Our investigations revealed he'd been texting his supervisor, who would require drivers to respond to calls and texts all day. If they didn't respond right away, they essentially risked being fired.

Behavior like that made it outright inevitable that someone would get hurt. A company like that shouldn't just get a slap on the wrist. They'd need to face the full consequences of their actions to ensure they didn't get anyone else hurt. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but that's why thorough investigations are so important in these situations.
