Commentary on Wrong-Way Accident on Grand Pkwy in Montgomery County
If the allegations here are true (it's far from my place to say one way or the other, of course), then there could be serious factors to address here. Obviously, allegations of someone being intoxicated can lead to serious criminal consequences. But if evidence shows the intoxication was the result of alcohol rather than drugs, there could be an accomplice to all of this that also needs to be held responsible.

Texas has what's dram shop law, which says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. That could be anything from a bar to a gas station to a liquor store to a brunch spot, which is why it can't be ruled out even at this time of the morning. Besides, in almost every wrong-way collision on a highway, investigations show not just intoxication but significant intoxication that would all but guarantee a complicit business broke the law.
Like I said, I can't say what did or didn't happen here. That's not my place. But too often, authorities move to file their charges without really considering the possible steps that can be taken to actually get the victims and families the help they need. Dram shop is just one possibility, but it's a significant one to consider for a family in need of assistance. Are proper steps being taken here to get the full story of what led to this collision?
