Commentary on Gillian Martinez Truck Accident in Mesquite
While it is possible there are extenuating circumstances that the truck driver here couldn't avoid, claiming they had the green light only for a witness to say otherwise typically means one of two things: the truck driver was lying, or they weren't paying attention. Getting answers can often be more complex than people may realize.

In a recent case, for example, it was pretty darn clear that a truck driver was distracted when causing a wreck. But when asked for his cell phone records, the trucking company claimed he didn't own a cell phone. That sure didn't sound right, but it was our burden to prove otherwise. That's why our team put together a lengthy deposition that eventually caught the driver up in his own stories, causing him to admit he did indeed own a phone (big surprise). With that, we got a court order for the records, showing the driver had been watching pornography at the time of the crash--yes, really.
While I'm not saying similar events happened here, it was only after all of that legal maneuvering that the trucking company even began taking steps to cooperate. This is more often the norm than the exception, which is why I always encourage folks to ensure they have the tools and allies to get as much evidence telling their side of the story as possible. I don't see any reason why this situation would be an exception to that.
