Commentary on Daniel Medina Accident on Horizon Blvd in Socorro

It's something of a relief to read that the injuries here were minor, though that's no still reason to take the collision lightly. I've seen cases where "minor" injuries turned out to be anything but, and it's important folks are prepared just in case things are worse than they seem.

For example, a while back a client was involved in a crash with a commercial truck. Doctors first told him he was lucky to have just a sore back and sent him home with instructions to use a heating pad and stay off his feet. Not long after, that soreness became crippling pain.

Further tests showed the crash actually ruptured a disk in the victim's spine. That "minor" injury ultimately required surgery and months of recovery, not to mention a drawn-out battle with the insurance company to get them to take responsibility.

I certainly hope nothing like that happens after the Socorro wreck, but that man was able to get help because he sought our assistance soon after his crash. Others that wait too long may find they no longer have access to the tools and evidence required to get the help they need. At worst they're overprepared for nothing, which is always far better than the opposite.
