Natalia Man Injured in Car Accident on Horal Drive in San Antonio, TX
San Antonio, TX -- May 30, 2022, a Natalia man was injured due to an accident where a possibly intoxicated driver hit them on Horal Drive.
Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 2:50 a.m. along Horal Drive Off the corner of Flint Valley.
Officials said that a 41-year-old Natalia man was on a Honda motorcycle traveling northbound on Horal. It appears the motorcycle quickly slowed down, following which a Toyota Camry crashed into the motorcycle.
The Natalia man sustained incapacitating injuries due to the crash. It's unclear why the motorcycle slowed down, as reports say there did not appear to be "a need" to stop. They also say the Toyota driver was under the influence of alcohol. This and other factors are under investigation.
Commentary on Motorcycle Accident on Horal in San Antonio
While it's obviously important to understand what led the motorcyclist to slow down suddenly, one can't help but wonder if a sober driver could have avoided this collision. If so, then looking into the allegations that the other driver was drunk will obviously be crucial. Part of that, however, is also looking into where that alcohol came from.
Something I rarely see authorities address on their own is the possibility of dram shop law. It basically says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Whether that's a bar, liquor store, or restaurant, dram shop presents an opportunity both to get people the help they need and to hold a negligent business accountable for their actions. Is that something being looked into here?
