Commentary on Single-Vehicle Accident on El Paisano in Starr County
To be a bit frank, I can't help wondering if the authorities are giving this attention it deserves. They've essentially said that fatigue and alcohol may have been factors, but that's almost always true. Are they actually looking into what happened here, or are they just speculating?

Don't get me wrong, those are important to look into. Alcohol could be especially important considering not only the possibility of a business serving someone who's underage but also potentially over-serving them and being liable for the resulting injuries under dram shop law. Things like fatigue and distracted driving are also worth considering.
But what about less common factors? Things like mechanical issues, medical emergencies, road hazards, tire defects and even other drivers that left the scene are less common, but they still happen. Without proper investigations, how can a family be certain they're getting the full story? That's why it's usually important to ensure there are thorough investigations, and I see no reason why this crash would be an exception.
