Corpus Christi, TX -- May 14, 2022, two people sustained injuries due to an accident where the golf cart they were in crashed.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 7:04 p.m. along Whitecap Boulevard near Bonasse Court.

Officials said that a 48-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were in a golf cart traveling along Whitecap. While rounding a curve, the golf cart overturned.

Commentary on Golf Cart Accident on Whitecap in Corpus Christi

Anytime reports mention alcohol as a possibility, it's important to find out exactly where that alcohol came from. Texas has what's called dram shop law, which says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. That could be a bar, country club, liquor store, restaurant, or even a gas station. If an establishment illegally serves someone, and that leads to people getting hurt, that establishment can be on the hook for their actions.

Could it be that happened here? It's certainly possible, though I wouldn't want anyone jumping to conclusions before there's been a proper investigation. Even if some factors, like mechanical defects or roadway conditions, are unlikely, they still warrant consideration to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
