Commentary on Esequiel Valadez Accident on McCann Rd in Gregg County
With single-vehicle wrecks like this, it's often easy for people to jump to conclusions. Things like distraction, impairment, and speeding are all pretty common, so people have a tendency to blame every similar wreck on one or more of them. Indeed, even police reports mentioned speeding in unsafe conditions as a likely factor.
All those issues commonly cause accidents and they're all worth investigating; impairment is of particular concern since a local bar might have over-served the driver. If so, it may be liable for the accident and his tragic passing under dram shop law.

However, it's important that investigators look into less-common factors as well. Two were actually brought up in reports as investigators said the wet road and possibly-bald tires on the truck may have been factors. Beyond those, did the victim's truck have mechanical problems? Did he have a medical condition that made him lose control? Was anyone else around or involved and just left the scene?
Some may roll their eyes and see those questions as overcomplicating things, but that's not the point. Someone's life was cut short here, and that fact alone warrants a careful investigation to get his loved ones some answers.
