Commentary on Jonathan Aguilar Accident in Cimarron County

With early morning single-vehicle wrecks, it's common to see people jump to conclusions about what caused them. Quite frankly they're usually the result of things like texting, speeding, or drunk driving. Those certainly warrant consideration here, including whether a local bar may be responsible for the driver's tragic passing under dram shop law.

However, just because certain factors are common doesn't mean they can be taken for granted. A proper investigation will account for less-common possibilities as well.

Mechanical issues, medical emergencies, tire blowouts, road hazards, reckless drivers that fled the scene--these are all possible factors, likely or not. That's why independent investigations are so important. Getting answers about what led to the crash is a crucial step toward getting people the help they need, and unfortunately police aren't always thorough enough to find those answers. Will the necessary care be taken here to ensure the victim's loved ones know the whole truth?
