Commentary on Sandra Andrade Single-Vehicle Accident in Magnolia
A lot of people see single-vehicle wrecks like this and just assume the driver must have been doing something wrong. Were they drunk? Fatigued? On their phone? Speeding? These questions are even more common when a younger driver crashes. These all certainly warrant investigations, but it would be irresponsible and outright disrespectful to just immediately assume the driver did something wrong. There are other possibilities, likely and otherwise, that also warrant attention.

Was there a tire blowout? Is the road in poor condition? Was there debris in the road? Did the victim hit or swerve to avoid an animal? Was there some other reckless driver involved that left the scene? Did a manufacturing defect result in a catastrophic failure, causing the vehicle to suddenly lose control? These can be complex questions to answer, and unfortunately authorities don't always dedicate the time, tools, or experience to properly investigate them.
That's one of the reasons I always seek out the aid of independent accident reconstructionists. Common or not, they look into all possibilities thoroughly and let the evidence speak for itself. Whatever happened here, shouldn't the victim's loved ones at least know they're getting the full story? Sitting around while people jump to conclusions isn't going to do anyone any good.
