Commentary on Loading Dock Accident on International Boulevard in Hidalgo

Folks tend to look at situations is relatively black-and-white. Either the truck driver wasn't paying attention, or the victim wasn't, right? That's often true, but things aren't always so simple.

Mission Man Injured in Loading Dock Accident in Hidalgo, TX

I had a case not long ago involving a loading dock accident. When we looked int things, some issues stood out that police never mentioned. One was a lack of lighting which made the approach to the dock incredibly dark at night. The other was the shape of the lot essentially being a large 'V' that forced truck drivers to gun it backwards dangerously fast toward the dock. This was basically a recipe for disaster, and it was no wonder someone got hurt.

With a situation like that, just blaming the truck driver or the worker wouldn't really solve anything. There were systemic issues that needed to be addressed or else more people would get hurt. Maybe nothing so complex happened here, but folks shouldn't be quick to jump to conclusions without there being more thorough accident reconstructions from professionals.
