Juvenile, Adult Killed, Three Injured in Truck Accident on Dinah Shore Drive in Rancho Mirage, CA

Rancho Mirage, CA -- June 1, 2022, two people were killed and three were injured following an accident where multiple vehicles crashed.

According to initial reports, officials said that the crash took place at around 8:14 p.m. in the area of the Westin Mission Hills Resort along Dinah Shore Drive.

Investigations did not clarify what caused the crash. They said only that three vehicles collided, including a box truck.

As a result, a juvenile and an adult sustained fatal injuries. Three others were hospitalized with reportedly minor injuries. No further information is available at this time.

It's not entirely unusual for there to be so few details surrounding a complex commercial truck wreck. The issue is making sure the right people are handling the investigations. Authorities can certainly fill that role, but they often lack the experience and tools to properly investigate the crash. I can't count how many times families came to me with a truck wreck where authorities weren't able to look into complex factors like maintenance records, ECM data, laser mapping, mechanical defects, etc. Considering a child lost their life here, shouldn't every possible step be taken to ensure professionals look into what happened here?
