Commentary on Tanner McLain Car Accident in Grapevine

With a situation like this, it's important to ensure authorities didn't overlook anything important. They tend to get tunnel vision, only looking into common factors like distracted driving or drunk driving. That's certainly important--especially this early in the morning when it's possible a local bar illegally over-served the driver and is therefore liable for their injuries under dram shop law. But those aren't the only possibilities, and victims deserve to know their crash is getting the proper attention. That's why it's usually more prudent to have independent investigators look into things to make sure nothing important slips through the cracks. It's not clear if those steps were ever taken here.
