Commentary on Robert Griffiths Motorcycle Accident in Forney

Just because police mention alcohol in their reports doesn't mean it was actually the cause of the crash. Don't get me wrong; it's an important factor to consider. That's especially true if a local establishment over-served the driver, since they could be liable for the victim's injuries under dram shop law. That said, I run into reports all the time where authorities just assume a motorcyclist did something wrong only for more thorough investigations to show there were other extenuating circumstances.

Could it be that further investigations would show something similar here? Is there another driver involved? Were there mechanical issues? Was debris in the road? Without a proper investigation, there's no real way to say who or what is responsible for all of this. That's why folks are generally better off avoiding jumping to conclusions. I see no particular reason why this crash would be an exception.
