Commentary on Hiija Gale Page Car Accident in Wood County

With situations like this, I always make sure to discourage people from jumping to conclusions. People would be shocked to see some of the stuff authorities overlook in preliminary reports. Sometimes there are mechanical issues the driver couldn't foresee. Sometimes, they're the victim of being illegally over-served by a bar or restaurant, and the establishment can be liable for the injuries under dram shop law. Maybe a tire blew out. Maybe some other reckless driver police failed to mention contributed to the crash. It may seem like police wouldn't miss these kinds of things, but I see all kinds of reports where police either missed something important or outright got the facts wrong. That's why more thorough independent investigations are usually important, and the same could prove true here.
