Commentary on Luis Eddie Hernandez Rollover Accident in Burnet County
To be clear, police bringing up alcohol is often just standard procedure. It's a common factor, so ruling it out is part of just about any thorough investigation. That said, I speak to a lot of families who find out a fatal accident involved alcohol, and they simply don't understand what that can mean for them. I don't blame them, considering it's not the sort of thing authorities typically discuss. That's why I try to address these issues even if it's only for the sake of know.

Whenever alcohol leads to a fatal crash, it's important to find out where that alcohol came from. This is due to Texas dram shop law. The law basically says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only can this be of significant help to the victims and families, it can also make the community safer by ensuring those businesses are held accountable for their actions.
Again, I am not saying that happened here. I'm saying that reports like this rarely ever tell the whole story. When a family is searching for answers, taking the steps to ensure they even know what to look for can be vital. That's why I talk about these issues whenever possible to shed light on possibilities that folks may not otherwise consider.
