Pilot, Passenger Injured in Helicopter Crash in Cameron, TX

Cameron, TX — May 31, 2022, a helicopter pilot and a passenger were injured in a crash at Cameron Municipal Airport.

According to reports the incident happened around 2:55 p.m. at the airport. The circumstances of the crash aren't clear, but a helicopter reportedly went down in the area and two of its occupants, a pilot and a passenger, sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information is currently available.

There isn't much information about how exactly this accident occurred, and I'm not coming down on police for not having all the answers so soon. I hope in the course of the investigation they can answer some outstanding questions. Did the chopper go down because of a pilot error? Was there an equipment or mechanical issue in the machine itself? Was there some kind of communication issue with the airport's controllers? That's just a handful of the many concerns that still have to be addressed.

Some may feel it's not really that important to get to the heart of the matter since the victims' injuries were reportedly minor.
