Commentary on Semi-Truck Accident on I-15 in Brigham City

It's not clear what exactly happened here, but reports seem to suggest the injuries were not too serious. I certainly hope that's true, as these kinds of accidents can obviously be a lot more serious. That said, I see no reason to treat a crash like this as anything but serious. Things aren't always as simple as they first appear.

For example, I handled a situation a while back where, like in this crash, the victim went home soon after a trip to the hospital. In that situation, a man was examined for a back injury and told that he'd be fine. Days later, however, he could barely move. What went wrong? Well, it turned out the crash ruptured a disk in his spine, and doctors missed it initially. That injury ultimately required surgery as well as a lengthy back-and-forth with the trucking company.

Had that man not sought out professional help, he may not have had the tools or evidence to get the help he needed. Unfortunately, others cannot take those steps as quickly if they don't take them immediately following the wreck. As they say, it's better to be safe than sorry, and a serious truck wreck is far from the exception to that.
