Woman Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident on CR 2434 in Cherokee County, TX

Cherokee County, TX -- May 8, 2022, one person sustained injuries due to an accident where the vehicle they were in crashed off the side of CR 2434.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 1:30 a.m. along CR 2434 near US 69.

According to officials, a pickup was traveling along CR 2434. The vehicle reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, traveling off-road and crashing into a tree.

A woman riding in the vehicle sustained incapacitating injuries due to the crash. Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

Anytime alcohol comes up in reports, it raises some glaring red flags. As on top of things as police might be in those scenarios, though, there is often more to the story they tend to overlook. For example, many accidents at this time of the morning involve people coming from local bars or other establishments. If evidence shows such an establishment illegally over-served the driver, that establishment can be liable under dram shop law for their role in the accident. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but getting people the help they need means getting them the facts. There could be more to this situation that authorities have yet to address.
