Commentary on Truck Accident on Route 99 in Sacramento
I'm not coming down on investigators for not having every scrap of information already about so recent a crash, but reports are frustratingly vague at this point. There's still a lot of blanks that need filling before anyone could say what really happened out there. How fast was the van traveling? Why did the truck stop? Did it do so abruptly or gradually? Did its lights work? Was there traffic in the area? Construction? Were both vehicles in good working order? Was the van's driver paying attention to their surroundings? If not, why not?
That's just a handful of the many details that still need to be clarified here. Without finding all the facts that tell the true story, there's still a lot of room for confusion or "creative" interpretation of what happened. That can create a lot of problems for both sides, so it's best to do away with that uncertainty. More than that, the victim's family deserves to know every effort was made to bring them the whole truth of the accident that tragically took away their loved one. Will police be thorough enough here to find the true story and ensure the right parties (if any) are held accountable?
