Commentary on Semi-Truck Accident on LBJ Freeway at Coit in Dallas
With a situation like this, it's easy to jump to conclusions since the driver of the victim's car rear-ended a semi. That's usually a sign the driver did something wrong. But things aren't always so simple. These reports don't really say the collision occurred or what other factors may have contributed. That's why it's important to have independent investigators get the full story.
For example, I handled a situation not long ago involving a rear-end collision. It turned out the truck involved was broken down in the middle of the highway without any kind of markings. More over, the mechanical issues were the result of poor maintenance on the company's part, meaning it was completely avoidable. That's far from some black-and-white case of reckless driving. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but getting people the help they need means ensuring they have the full story.
