Las Vegas Man Injured in 18-wheeler Accident on Illinois Avenue in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX -- May 4, 2022, a Las Vegas man was due to an accident where a tractor-trailer backed over him along Illinois Avenue.

Authorities were called to the scene of the accident at around 7:22 p.m. It happened in a private lot off the corner of Illinois Avenue and Fordham Road.

Officials said that an 18-wheeler pulled into the gravel lot of a repair shop. After doing so, a 36-year-old Las Vegas man that was a passenger in the truck got out and began to look at info on the back of the trailer. The driver then went into reverse, hitting the man.

Reports say that the man sustained incapacitating injuries due to the accident. Additional details about the accident are unavailable.

The most likely explanation here is that this was just a mistake between co-workers, in which case things usually have to go through the workers' comp system. However, there can be exceptions to this. For example, if this was actually the result of an unusual mechanical defect, there may be consequences for the manufacturer responsible for the defect. Also, passengers in a truck that aren't actually co-workers (friends or family, for example), they likely wouldn't be covered by workers' comp. However, they may then retain their right to resolve the matter in the courts.
