Commentary on Las Vegas Man 18-wheeler Accident on Illinois Avenue in Dallas
The most likely explanation here is that this was just a mistake between co-workers, in which case things usually have to go through the workers' comp system. However, there can be exceptions to this. For example, if this was actually the result of an unusual mechanical defect, there may be consequences for the manufacturer responsible for the defect. Also, passengers in a truck that aren't actually co-workers (friends or family, for example), they likely wouldn't be covered by workers' comp. However, they may then retain their right to resolve the matter in the courts. Whatever the case may be here, the point is folks shouldn't start jumping to conclusions until the facts are more clear.
