Commentary on Jessica Diaz Kuhn 18-wheeler Accident in Alvarado

Something to keep in mind with wrecks like this is just because something seems likely doesn't mean other possible factors aren't worth attention. Someone hitting the back of an 18-wheeler slowing to make a turn is certainly concerning and usually a sign they were going too fast or distracted. However, that's not the only reason this sort of thing can happen.

A trailer can have faulty brake lights, no blinkers, road conditions can play a role, the victim's vehicle may have had mechanical issues, etc. It may seem like authorities would look into that, but these reports aren't always as thorough as one would think. Besides, someone suffering incapacitating injuries can often mean they were rushed from the scene before authorities got a chance to speak to them. If steps weren't taken to follow up with that person later on, reports like this can sometimes show only one side of the story.

If nothing else, making sure all the facts are clear is the least one could do for someone involved in a serious truck wreck. Were those steps ever taken here?
