Commentary on Lindale Man Car Accident on CR 498 in Smith County

There are many reasons that thorough independent investigations are so crucial after a single-vehicle wreck like this. One of the major issues is ensuring the tools are in place to handle complex legal hurdles standing between folks and the help they need. A common factor in these kinds of accidents, for example, is alcohol. Not many people know that can lead to dram shop law, which says that a bar can be liable for a crash resulting from their illegal over-service of alcohol. But another important reason for independent investigations is simply to consider factors other than alcohol.

Put simply, people tend to jump to conclusions and assume the driver did something wrong. That's because things like distraction, speed, and alcohol are all too common. But what about things like mechanical issues, tire blowouts, medical conditions, road defects, etc.? Uncommon or not, shouldn't steps be taken to ensure nothing slips through the cracks? Well, that's why I make sure experienced independent investigators look into those things rather than simply relying on (typically shallow) police reports. Were steps taken here to ensure all the facts are clear?
