Jackson, NJ -- May 11, 2022, five people sustained injuries due to an accident where a school bus and a dump truck crashed on Toms River Road.

Authorities were called to the scene of the crash at around 3:30 p.m. along Toms River Road. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear at this time. It appears a school bus and a dump truck collided. Five students on the bus reportedly had minor injuries due to the crash. No further information is available at this time.

It's not clear what exactly happened here, but injuries reportedly being minor is at least an encouraging detail. However, I would never suggest treating a crash like this casually. Especially with younger victims, minor injuries aren't always that minor. An initial check at the scene can easily overlook something more serious, and sometimes seemingly minor injuries become more serious after a few days or weeks. Would it really be worth overlooking crucial information a kid needs to get help just because things may not have seemed too serious? Or, would it be better to get the facts in the hands of the families to ensure they are prepared for more serious consequences? Most reasonable folks would no doubt agree that taking the more careful approach is usually best.
