Commentary on Altinay Euridisse Valdez, Jaime Perez Rollover Accident in San Antonio
With so few details available here, it's best that folks ensure they aren't jumping to conclusions. It is certainly concerning to see allegations of street racing. It's also important to look into things like alcohol this late at night, especially if there's a chance a local bar illegally over-served the victims. At the same time, however, it wouldn't be the first time if further investigations showed police were looking in the wrong direction.
There may have been mechanical issues, road hazards, a medical emergency, etc. Were there witnesses confirming that there was a race, or did authorities assume so based on something like tire markings or the type of vehicle involved? We don't have answers to these questions yet, so drawing conclusions before taking every possible step to answer they would only serve to further harm the grieving families.
