Commentary on Richard E. Choptij Motorcycle, Dump Truck Accident in Snohomish County

It's not clear what happened here, and that's no doubt due to the fact that commercial vehicle wrecks can be incredibly complex. Hopefully authorities are being careful and making sure they look into all possible factors here. I can't help being cautious with these kinds of accidents simply due to the victim being a motorcyclist.

Too often, I have folks come to me for help after a crash involving a motorcycle only to find everyone is already blaming the motorcyclist. A lot of people have a negative preconception of motorcyclists, and even the authorities can fall into that trap. Without convincing evidence, that bias can sometimes speak louder than the actual facts. Having the experience and legal tools to ensure the facts can speak for themselves is often crucial for victims and families, which is why I hope the proper steps are being taken here to truly find out what led to this tragic event.
