Commentary on Oscar Moreno-Elias UPS Truck Accident in Dallas

If it's true that the truck simply backed into a parked vehicle, it seems like such a reasonably avoidable situation. This wasn't some moped or smart car. This was a large pickup. How did the truck driver not see the vehicle behind them? Could it be that this driver was just being irresponsible, or was this an issue with training or experience?

With a company as large as UPS, bad drivers can sometimes slip through the cracks. This isn't an excuse, of course. On the contrary, it's all the more reason to remind those large companies to stay aware of what their drivers are doing and what they're capable of. Whether or not authorities looked into things like training and safety is unclear at this time. That can be a vital step to getting folks the help they need, so more thorough independent investigations could be a prudent step forward.
