Any mention of alcohol is one to take seriously, and it can even make things more complex due to dram shop law. If an accident is the result of a local business illegally over-serving someone, that business can be held liable for their role in the victim's injuries. As serious as that is, though, it shouldn't distract investigators from considering other possible explanations. Were there mechanical issues? A medical emergency? Road hazards? Was the construction zone positioned in an unnecessarily dangerous way? Even if something seems unlikely, it's important steps are taken to ensure all the facts are clear.
