Commentary on Bicyclist Hit-and-Run on Fairmeadows St in San Antonio
Right now there isn't much information surrounding this tragic event. Clearly, someone out there needs to be held accountable for their role in all of this. A prudent step toward that goal will simply be relaying any and all discovered details about the accident to the public as soon as possible. A lot of times with the details police provide someone is able to connect the dots to a friend, co-worker, neighbor, or even a family member. In some cases complete strangers have recognized a car from information in the news, or an auto body shop worker has tipped off authorities after a car with certain kinds of suspicious damage was brought in for repairs.
Hopefully someone in a position to recognize the hit-and-run vehicle or driver can help lead authorities to that person so they can take responsibility for what happened and so that authorities can determine what led to the accident in the first place. Obviously more work will be necessary just to identify a potential suspect and find a better description of the hit-and-run vehicle (were there any other witnesses? Traffic camera footage? Security tapes from local businesses?), but with continued help from the community I remain hopeful that justice will be done here in due time.
