Pedestrian Injured in Garbage Truck Accident on Yosemite Avenue in Manteca, CA

Manteca, CA -- April 25, 2022, one person was injured as the result of an accident where a garbage truck hit a pedestrian along Yosemite Avenue.

Preliminary reports indicated that the crash took place at around 4:51 a.m. near the intersection of West Yosemite Avenue and Airport Way.

In their reports, officials said that a pedestrian was walking when a Manteca city garbage truck hit the victim. As a result, the pedestrian had critical injuries.

There isn't much information about what happened here, but folks tend to assume that either the pedestrian was in a crosswalk, or they were in the wrong. As important as right-of-way is, things aren't really that simple. Especially in California, where people are generally on the hook for their portion of the blame, however little, it's crucial to consider everyone's actions. For example, if someone is in the middle of the road, and it's too dark to see them, a driver may not be able to avoid them.
