Houston, TX -- March 31, 2022, Yudelkis Alarcon possibly identified as one of two people hurt in a car accident where two vehicles collided.

Investigators reported that the crash took place just after 9:30 p.m. along State Highway 6 in the area of Patterson.

Authorities said that a Toyota Camry was northbound along the highway when it reportedly failed to control speed and crashed into a Hyundai. Sources identified the driver of the Hyundai as Yudelkis Alarcon, but this cannot be confirmed at this time. If the sources are accurate, Alarcon and the other driver reportedly had incapacitating injuries.

Right now, authorities are investigating the possibility that the Toyota driver had been drinking. This and other details are still under investigation.

Commentary on Yudelkis Alarcon Car Accident in Houston

There are still many details here yet to be confirmed, which is all the more reason to take early reports with a grain of salt. Whatever caused this wreck and whoever was or wasn't involved, there's more than enough reason to make sure experienced investigators look into things. Not least among the reasons is the possibility of alcohol contributing to the crash. What makes that so complex is the possibility of the accident falling under dram shop law.

Yudelkis Alarcon Possibly Injured Car Accident Houston, TX

Put simply, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only can this hold negligent businesses accountable for their actions, it can be a significant source of help for the victims involved. That's why it's so frustrating how rarely the authorities look into that sort of thing on their own. Are steps being taken here to make sure those involved are getting every opportunity to pursue the help they need?
