Commentary on Ruth Land Tractor-Trailer Accident in Baton Rouge

There are obviously some key points leading up to the collision which aren't clear right now. While a vehicle merging onto the interstate generally has to yield to through-traffic, there's no specific indication that the driver of the victim's vehicle failed to do so. Is it possible the driver of the victim's vehicle merged without having enough room? Certainly. But for all we know, they safely merged before a tractor-trailer then failed to slow down and rear-ended them. It's even possible for both drivers to have done something to contribute to the crash. At the end of the day, a commercial truck wreck is going to present significant challenges that require experienced professionals. Until experienced professionals with the right training and equipment look into things, it's vest folks avoid jumping to conclusions.
