Commentary on Single-Vehicle Accident on I-10 in Balcones Heights
This early in the morning, authorities tend to look into the same common possible factors. Alcohol, for example, is incredibly common this early in the morning. Was the driver on their way home from a bar? I've worked with tons of people who were illegally over-served by a bar, leading to a serious accident, and those bars can be liable under dram shop law. Besides that, authorities also tend to look into things like fatigue and distracted driving. But a prudent investigator will also make sure to give some attention to less likely possible factors. Were there mechanical issues? Road defects? A tire blowout? A medical condition? It's not about whether or not something is likely. It's about getting the facts and ensuring those involved have every possible opportunity to get the help they need. Were those steps taken here?
