Four Injured in Car Accident on Lee Trevino Drive in El Paso, TX

El Paso, TX -- April 3, 2022, four people were injured in a traffic accident on Lee Trevino Drive in El Paso.

Authorities say the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. on Lee Trevino at Edgemere Boulevard. Preliminary investigation suggests a Chevrolet Astro minivan was stopped at a red light on westbound Edgemere as 18-year-old Alondra Pacheco was driving a Nissan Rogue north on Lee Trevino. Reports say the Chevy driver proceeded into the crossing on a green light but the Nissan ran its red light at the same time. The SUV crashed into the minivan's left side, causing two of the van's passengers to be ejected. After the impact the Nissan turned wide and crashed into a Hyundai Accent waiting on the eastbound side of Edgemere.

Four passengers from the Astro minivan, two of them seriously injured children, were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Investigators later learned the van's driver had a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of .148 at the time of the crash.

No further information is available at this time.
