Commentary on Truck Accident on Alameda Avenue in El Paso
Crashes like the one described here are generally easy to avoid, which is why this sort of thing is usually the result of distracted driving. As simple as that may sound, there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that require more experienced investigators to look into.
For example, I handled a situation not long ago involving a truck driver texting and driving. That seemed straight-forward, but continued investigations revealed that he was responding to a supervisor that essentially threatened drivers with their jobs if they didn't respond to his texts fast enough. This inevitably led to drivers taking risks, and people got hurt as a result.
Now, maybe nothing like that happened here, but there's a big difference between someone being irresponsible for no good reason and someone being irresponsible because they're in a dangerous work environment. Getting people the help they need is as much a priority as holding people accountable for their negligent actions, which is why crashes like this still warrant thorough investigations.
