Commentary on Train Accident off NE Loop 410 in San Antonio
To be clear up front, I have no information about this tragic event beyond what is in these reports. What people may not realize, however, is why something like this is so important to investigation thoroughly. Folks may see someone was hit on the tracks and just assume they were being irresponsible. But there can be extenuating circumstances to consider.
For example, there was an incident I looked into several years ago where a woman was hit by a train while she was lying on the tracks. Months later, video surfaced showing her outside of a bar barely conscious due to how drunk she was. What folks likely wrote off as someone being reckless turned out to involve a bar likely illegally over-serving someone to the point they got lost on their way home and passed out on the tracks.
Maybe nothing like that happened here, but that's why any serious accident, no matter how open-and-shut it may seem, warrants thorough investigations.
