The witness statements apparently saying the SUV ran a light is more than a little concerning. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. I have handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accidents, and many of them included similar claims which evidence showed to be false or to be due to extenuating circumstances. There can also be other circumstances changing things, such as a recent crash in which a woman ran a red light, but the truck that hit her was going 20 MPH over the speed limit. Or, it's entirely possible that investigations confirm exactly what witnesses said. The point is that folks can't go jumping to conclusions based solely on a preliminary news report. Getting people the help they need means ensuring that the facts speak for themselves.
