Commentary on Marc Anthony Martinez Alleged Drunk Driving Accident in McAllen
If these allegations are true, then there are clearly steps being taken to see the allegedly drunk driver has their day in court to answer for what happened. But is that really all there is to it? Holding a drunk driver accountable is important, but that doesn't exactly get victims and families the help they need after a serious crash. That's why it's important to consider other legal avenues that can get them that help.
One such possible avenue, for example, is dram shop law. A lot of crashes like this one happen when someone is on their way home from a bar. If evidence shows the bar over-served the allegedly drunk driver while they were obviously intoxicated, then the bar can be liable for the injuries caused by that intoxication.
Not only is this important for the victims and families in need of help, it's also important for the community as a whole. Seeing those negligent businesses held accountable can be a clear message for them to clean up their act. Despite all of this, it's not the sort of thing authorities tend to look into on their own. Are the investigators here taking steps to find out what all led to these serious injuries?
