Commentary on Dorsey David Janysek 18-wheeler Accident in Karnes County

These details are a bit complex, considering authorities seem to blame the crash on the victim failing to slow down. I certainly have no clear evidence to contradict that. However, it does stand out that the truck may have been making a wide right turn when this happened. It makes me wonder if the crash happened not so much when the victim failed to slow down but rather when they tried to pass the 18-wheeler.

Did the 18-wheeler make clear their intention to turn right? How far did they pull to the left before turning? How fast were they going? Did they have working brake lights? Would a more reasonably prudent driver have been able to avoid hitting the 18-wheeler, or would they, too, have crashed into it? Answering these questions can be absolutely crucial in just about any crash. Here, considering someone was reportedly seriously hurt, it would be irresponsible not to at least ensure investigators considered all possible factors.
