Alechia Stephenson Injured in Truck Accident in Blanco County, TX

Blanco County, TX -- January 5, 2022, Alechia Stephenson was injured due to an accident where Stephenson's vehicle crashed with a semi-truck.

Authorities reported that the crash took place at around 2:47 p.m. on RM 1888 near Edwards Road.

Officials said that 53-year-old Alechia Stephenson was in a Ford F-150 traveling westbound along RM 1888. According to reports, Stephenson's vehicle drifted over the center line and crashed into an oncoming box truck, sending both vehicles off-road.

Stephenson had reportedly incapacitating injuries in the crash. The reports mentioned no other injuries.

I find that folks tend to take reports like this at face value way too easily. Just to be clear, I don't have any reason to say these particular reports are wrong or incomplete in anyway. However, 30 years of truck wreck experience gives me every reason to take the reports with a grain of salt until I see clear evidence. To be blunt, these preliminary reports often overlook important details, and police can even get things wrong.

For example, I had a family come to me about a crash where, according to police, their loved one veered over the center line and fatally struck an oncoming 18-wheeler. After a forensic investigation, however, evidence clearly showed that it was the 18-wheeler that crossed over. The victim swerved left to avoid it, but the 18-wheeler veered back into its original lane where the collision occurred. The investigating officer simply wasn't experienced and lacked the proper tools to do a thorough job. Had there not been more thorough investigations, who knows if the truth ever would have come to light.

Again, I'm not saying that happened here. Further investigations could very well confirm everything police say here. My point is simply that after a serious truck wreck, it's important to ensure that all the facts have been brought to light before anyone jumps to conclusions.
