Commentary on Gustavo Castillo Car Accident on Gulf Freeway at Lockwood in Houston
First of all, the fact that a vehicle left the scene after hitting the victim is absolutely unacceptable, and there must be continued efforts to identify that driver so they can be held responsible. But the fact there are so many vehicles and an alleged altercation involved certainly makes things more complex. Not only that, but the allegation that two drivers were intoxicated also can make things complex. That could even lead to local bars being involved here if they over-served any of the drivers, since victims and their families can hold those establishments accountable under dram shop law for playing a role in the accident. I don't say any of this to speculate but rather to reinforce to people just how complex accidents can be. If nothing else, situations like this warrant extensive efforts to get answers for the victim's loved ones.
