Commentary on Multi Truck Accident on Highway 153 in Chattanooga
The cause of the crash isn't clear right now, but this many vehicles being involved certainly complicates things. The more insurance companies fighting over who's to blame, the more hurdles there are between the victims and the help they need. That's especially true with commercial policies.
I had a case not long ago between two commercial vehicles. The company trying to deny our client the help he needed went so far as to accuse him of lying about his injuries and seeking unnecessary medical condition. This was despite proof that he needed surgery for a spinal injury that made it nearly impossible just to get out of his bed. It took us utilizing medical experts with state-of-the-art imaging to finally break down the company's walls and get them to take responsibility for their driver's actions.
Believe it or not, insurance companies don't need serious spinal injuries to be as stubborn as that. It's one of the reasons I always tell folks about the importance of independent investigations after a commercial truck wreck. They need as much evidence as possible to tell their side of the story. The police reports alone just aren't likely to give them the answers they need. Maybe police are being thorough here, but with all of this chaos, I certainly wouldn't leave anything to chance.
