Roberto Villarreal Injured in 18-Wheeler Accident of Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo, TX
Laredo, TX -- June 18, 2021, 39-year-old Roberto Medrano Villarreal was injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer off Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo.
Authorities say the incident happened around 8:25 p.m. on the frontage road of Bob Bullock (State Loop 20) near Farm to Market Road 1472. Preliminary investigation suggests a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling west in the Loop's right lane as Villarreal was driving a GMC Canyon pickup truck in the left lane, a short distance behind the semi-truck.
The truck driver later told investigators he veered slightly into the left lane in preparation to turn right off the roadway into the private drive of CEVA Logistics at 8402 Loop 20 Frontage Road. As the truck turned right its trailer swung into the left lane and crashed into the side of Villarreal's pickup.
Villarreal received minor injuries in the collision. The truck driver was unhurt.

Commentary on Roberto Villarreal Accident off Loop 20 in Laredo
Even though fault in this crash may seem pretty straightforward, as always I would suggest conducting a more thorough investigation to find all the objective facts of the matter and eliminate any "wiggle room" the truck driver or his employer might otherwise find.
Also to that point, reports bringing up "minor" injuries tend to concern me. I always hope they're accurate, but I've handled many situations where supposedly minor injuries turned out to be anything but.
In a recent case, for example, a man had some back pain after a commercial truck wreck. Doctors sent him home with instructions to use a heating pad and take ibuprofen, but days later his pain had swelled to almost-paralyzing levels. Further tests showed the crash ruptured a disk in his spine, and he needed extensive surgery. While I wish he'd never been put in the position to need our help, in a way he was fortunate that his real condition showed soon after the crash, so we were able to get swiftly to work on his behalf.
Not everyone experiences the full scope of their injuries that quickly, which is why conducting thorough investigations even when things seem negligible is a prudent step after any commercial vehicle accident. I see no reason to consider this crash an exception to that
